Vivaldi: "Laudamus te" from Gloria
Besides the concertos, for which he is best remembered, Vivaldi also wrote a great deal of music for the voice. Most of this was for the operatic stage, but he also wrote sacred music. This example is from one of his best-known works, his setting of the Gloria from the Mass. In this section, as we hear the two sopranos sing words of adoration, we can hear the fluidity of Vivaldi's vocal writing.
