Bartók: Concerto for Orchestra

Audio example

Concerto for Orchestra, fifth movement
Bartók's intensive study of folksong allowed him to internalize much of the style of the music. In this example we hear how much his music was influenced. The beginning, with its rushing lines and rhythmic verve, embodies many of the qualities of Hungarian folk music.
