Prokofiev's popular suite tells the tale of a soldier whose very existence is the result of a bureaucratic blunder. This movement depicts Kijé's wedding. Notice the naive-sounding cornet solo, and also at the end an instrument seldom heard in symphonic writing: the saxophone.
